gear

for me, equipment is a tool.  like a hammer, its useful and i need it to achieve my goal.  while i've had favorite tools in my toolbox, i try not to hold any special feelings for them.  i appreciate a well-crafted instruments and well-engineered electronics.

2006 Peavey Cirrus Bubinga

Definitely my favorite axe ever.  So tight and crispy.  I had one stolen and went out and found another the next day.

igig travel case

igig G515 bass travel bag.  Been all over the country and travels like a charm. Carries a small head if you choose to do so.  Highly stable.  Recommended.

Aguilar Amplification

Picture
I played through an aguilar house system at The Living Room NYC and it was dreamy.  I went out to find a cabinet the next day.

I now play through two DB112NT s.  Never need more than that.

Ampeg B-15N

Picture
I grew up with this amp.  I mostly played a sunburst 1973 Fender Jazz Bass through this - but also a Farfisa keyboard, numerous guitars and microphones.  I probably got shocked 93552 times by playing through this and touching the microphone grille with my face.

2000 Tacoma Thunderchief

This was probably the loudest acoustic bass I've ever played.  Really big and rich.  Plugged in it was just a bass.  I didn't sit around a campfire enough and tool around on it to want to keep it.  Hopefully someone else is getting some better use out of it.

Yamaha 5 Piece Drum Kit

Picture
I have played a number of drum kits - mostly pieced together.  This Yamaha kit I got from a friend.  He padded the shit out of it and it had hydraulic heads.

22" bass drum: BD-422P
16" floor tom: FT-416
12" & 13" rack toms: TT-412P TT413-P
14" snare: SD-465M

Next up:
Bucks County Drum Co Kit.  Chris Carr makes fantastical custom kits.
